Botox/ Anti-wrinkle FAQs

1. What is Botox?

Botox is a purified protein that gently relaxes targeted facial muscles. When administered by a qualified practitioner, it softens lines and wrinkles, creating a smoother, refreshed appearance.

Interesting to know:
Botulinum toxin is widely used in medicine to treat chronic migraines, muscle spasticity (e.g., after stroke or in cerebral palsy), cervical dystonia, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), and eye conditions such as strabismus and blepharospasm by calming overactive muscles or blocking specific nerve signals.

2. How long do the results last?

Most patients enjoy results for 3–4 months, though this varies from person to person. Lifestyle, muscle strength, and individual metabolism all affect longevity.

Interesting to know:
All licensed UK brands of Botulinum toxin Type A work in a similar way, but their formulations differ slightly. This means some people respond better to certain brands. I will advise you on the best option for your goals.
A zinc supplement may also help results last longer.

3. Will I look “frozen”?

Not when your treatment is planned carefully.
My motto is: “Look fresh, not overdone.”

If I am ever in doubt, I will treat conservatively at first, with the option to top up after a week. My focus is always on facial balance, harmonisation, and age-positive enhancement.

4. Is it painful?

The procedure is very quick, and I use an ultra-fine needle—finer than an insulin needle.
I also have several methods to minimise discomfort, including numbing cream and distraction techniques. I am gentle, patient, and understanding throughout.

5. When will I see results?

You’ll usually notice subtle improvements within 3–5 days, with full results developing at around 2 weeks.

Interesting to know:
Before-and-after photos are always confidential but are required for insurance purposes.

6. Who is a good candidate?

Botox can benefit many people, but suitability is always assessed during a one-to-one consultation.
We’ll discuss your medical history, facial anatomy, and desired outcomes before creating a tailored plan.

Safety note:

  • It is illegal to treat anyone under 18 with Botox for cosmetic reasons.

  • Botox is not licensed for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding — but there are alternative safe treatments we can explore.

7. How much will I need?

This varies depending on your muscle strength, skin quality, and goals.
There is no standard dose — every treatment is customised to your individual needs.

8. What is preventative Botox?

Often overhyped as a marketing term. If you don’t have visible lines, wrinkles, or a clear need for lifting, there may be more suitable treatments for you — and we can discuss these honestly.

Interesting to know:
Before collagen significantly declines (typically between ages 30–40), many early wrinkles can be improved with alternative treatments.

9. What if something goes wrong?

You are in safe hands. I will never take risks with your face.
Treatments are carried out by a GMC registered doctor with full emergency equipment and a strong professional support network. I also bring 20 years of medical experience.

Interesting to know:
Botox is self-limiting — meaning it naturally wears off in around 3 months.

10. Will my face drop if I stop having Botox?

In most cases, no.
If you’ve been using Botox to lift the brows or outer eyes, you may notice the muscles gradually regaining strength when the treatment wears off. If you choose not to continue Botox, there are alternative treatments that can help.

Long-term, regular Botox can also reduce muscle size, meaning many patients eventually need less frequent treatments.
